Impact of Conflict, 2015

In 2015 we were delighted to announce a season of Palestinian films selected by award winning director Annemarie Jacir (When I Saw You, Salt of this Sea) and shown at the Watershed , Bristol and The Courtyard, HerefordThis compilation was delivered as part of the BFI funded project called Conversations About Cinema.

In what is now the world’s longest running conflict, this season explored its many repercussions and the multiple ways it has been presented in Palestinian cinema. As Annemarie Jacir says:

“As a Palestinian, almost everything about our life is so politicised. When you are constantly being blocked or working under intense restrictions such as occupation, you need to find creative responses. This creativity is perhaps one of the hallmarks of Palestinian cinema right now, and is reflected in these four films.”
